Job Title:             Communications Intern

Class:                    Part-Time, Non-Exempt

Summary:

The Communications Intern will be an integral part of the Bucks Communications Department, assisting with daily responsibilities as outlined below, while gaining experience in Communications for a professional championship sports team and a state-of-the art sports & entertainment arena.

Responsibilities

  • Handle all credentials for Bucks home games
  • Help with crafting materials for the media including Bucks game notes, Bucks media guide and press releases
  • Prep the media room/press box and distribute credentials prior to Bucks games, create postgame notes during/after each game, assist with other vital communications efforts during home games
  • Compile daily online and TV news about the Bucks for distribution to the company
  • Compose weekly communications recaps of coverage, upcoming stories and events
  • Assist the department in covering vital events, including Bucks practices, community events, press conferences and other arena-related events
  • Daily office tasks and assists the Chief Communications Officer

Qualifications

  • College student/graduate, studying for a degree/holding degree in Communications/PR or Journalism preferred and a desire to work in sports
  • Excellent writer with prior experience in PR, media relations or writing for a sports team, college athletics department or student media organization
  • Has a knowledge and interest in sports, specifically the NBA, and is able to understand basketball statistics
  • Available for up to, and often exceeding 20 hours/week during the season and work on the weekends/nights as needed
  • Available to attend all Bucks home games
  • Attention to detail, ability to multi-task, well organized, excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Word and Excel; strong digital literacy skills
  • Responsible, reliable and of high character; able to work well with people outside of the company
